On October 15, 2015, SAIS-CARI hosted DC based China-Africa experts to share their recent research and forthcoming projects. Participants focused on debates, hypotheses, and findings, focusing on overlaps between interests. They represented academic institutions as well as the World Bank, IMF, the Brookings Institution, and former diplomatic missions with policy-relevant experience. The discussion focused on various ways to find and interpret quality data on Chinese investment in Africa, spanning agriculture and manufacturing among other sectors. Participants drew from their own field research and policy experiences to illuminate a variety of different trends in China-Africa relations over time.
